The hospital is planning a $150 million facelift that includes a new recently completed 17,000 square-foot glass enclosed main lobby with modern seating areas, community meeting spaces and cafés.
On Tuesday, April 18, the hospital held a flag raising ceremony to celebrate the completion. The hospital estimates it is about 3/4ths of the way through the entire project.
"It is important that our appearance reflect our commitment to the communities we serve," said Darrell Terry, Sr., the president and CEO of the hospital.
The emergency department will increase by 4,000 square feet and offer nine new treatment areas in the adult ward and three new pediatric areas. The hospital also plans new advanced heart failure treatment and transport facilities, a remodeling of the maternity unit and renovated intensive care unit.
